TEMPE, Ariz. — Arizona State defensive tackle Shane Collins has decided to postpone surgery on his injured right knee and attempt a comeback this season with the 21st-ranked Sun Devils.
Collins, a junior, was injured Sept. 8. He was expected to begin conditioning today with a heavy brace.
“At this point, we just got to see what happens after he’s had a chance to run around a little bit,” Arizona State Coach Larry Marmie said Wednesday. “There have been players who played with that injury.”
The 6-4, 273-pound Collins underwent arthroscopic surgery Sept. 12, and doctors discovered a torn anterior cruciate ligament.
