COMPTON — Two members of a Latin band died and a third man was critically burned today when their van caught fire. The flames spread to destroy a house, leaving a dozen people homeless, authorities said.
The fire apparently started about 1:10 a.m. in the van, which was parked in the driveway of a house in the 500 block of North Poinsettia Avenue, Lt. Steve Roller said.
Firefighters and police arrived to find both the van and the house fully engulfed in flames, he said. When the van fire was extinguished, officers discovered three men inside the charred vehicle, Roller said.
