If three goals are a hat trick, four must be an entire outfit.
Rachel Wackerman and teammate Vanessa Martin certainly were looking good when first Wackerman, then Martin scored four goals in successive Cal Lutheran blowouts.
Wackerman set a school record when she scored four goals in an 11-1 win over Redlands on Saturday. Two days later, Martin scored four goals in a 12-0 win over La Verne. Wackerman added three goals against La Verne.
Martin paced the Regals with 12 goals last season, the soccer team’s first year, and Coach George Kuntz said of freshman Wackerman, “The first day of practice we knew she was something special.”
Together, they give the Regals (2-2) a potent offense.
“Now opponents can’t concentrate on Vanessa because they’ve got someone else to contend with,” Kuntz said.
