Canadian searchers said part of a downed Peruvian Boeing 727 that was carrying 16 people was spotted by a Soviet fishing trawler 235 miles southeast of Cape Race, Newfoundland. But what a search aircraft earlier thought might be a life raft turned out to be an orange tarpaulin. The plane disappeared a week ago.
