RTD’s New Policy on Late Buses
It is time for the RTD to stop making deceptive claims.
Recently, the RTD announced a new policy: “If we’re 15 minutes late, you get a free ride.”
After waiting more than 25 minutes during the morning rush hour, three buses showed up together.
The driver of the first one I boarded was reminded of the delay. He claimed to be on time and passed the buck on to the next one, saying, “Not me, the one behind me is late.”
The RTD must concentrate its efforts on the quality and punctuality of its service rather than trying to attract media attention by those claims. Or else we may never be able to encourage people to leave their cars at home and take the bus.
