African Representatives Here to Discuss Trade

The ambassadors and other representatives of 12 African nations ventured out of their Washington embassies Tuesday to make contact with Americans who could help bring investments to their developing nations.
“We are here . . . to arouse some interest in whatever we have to offer,” Paul Desire Kabore, Burkina Faso’s ambassador to the United States, said after meeting with Mayor Tom Bradley.
The delegation, which included eight ambassadors, came to Los Angeles to explore trade and economic opportunities with local businesses, and develop cultural and student exchange programs.
The delegation’s visit was initiated by the diplomats, not Bradley’s Africa/Los Angeles Trade Task Force, a city-financed committee he appointed to encourage commerce with African nations.
