Charles (Red) Barrett, who holds the major league record for the fewest pitches in a nine-inning game, died at his home in Wilson, N.C., Saturday after a long illness. He was 75. Barrett, while pitching for the Boston Braves in 1944, faced 27 batters and threw only 58 pitches in a 2-0 victory over the Cincinnati Reds.
