Police Search for Hit-and-Run Driver Who Killed Man Crossing the Street

SANTA ANA — Police searched Saturday for a hit-and-run driver who killed a Santa Ana man as he walked across South Cypress Street late Friday night, authorities reported.
Antonio Hernandez, 26, was pronounced dead at Western Medical Center-Santa Ana after he was struck by a car in the middle of the street about 11 p.m. in the 1200 block of South Cypress.
Police said the driver then drove south on Cypress in the red Volkswagen beetle, which was damaged on the left front fender.
Police are seeking information about the accident or the vehicle at (714) 647-5084.
