Shell Oil Co.: The nation’s sixth-largest oil company said its second-quarter earnings plunged 63% to $161 million on revenue that slipped 12% to $5.2 billion. Houston-based Shell said the results reflected weakness in all three of its businesses--exploration, oil products and chemicals--and a writeoff of unproductive offshore oil properties.
