The Board of Trustees of the Ventura County Community College District has approved agreements with three employee groups whose members had been working without contracts since July 1, district officials said Wednesday.
At a special meeting Tuesday, the board approved a three-year contract with the Service Employees International Union Local 535, which represents 400 secretaries, maintenance workers, librarians, laboratory technicians and other classified employees. About three-fourths of the union’s 200 members had voted to ratify the agreement last week.
The classified employee contract includes a 3% pay raise retroactive to July 1, and another 3% increase effective in January, district officials said. The employees will also receive a raise of up to 4% in July, 1991.
In addition, the board approved two-year contracts with the 50-member Certified Management Assn., which includes vice chancellors, college vice presidents and deans, and with the 12-member confidential employee group, including the secretaries to the chancellor and to the college presidents.
Both contracts with the smaller groups include 5% pay increases retroactive to July 1 and a 4% increase effective July, 1991.
In closed session Tuesday, district officials also discussed continuing negotiations with teachers and classified employee supervisors, officials said.
