Amdahl Corp.: The computer manufacturer said its second-quarter net income rose to $46.3 million, up 41.2% from the year-ago period. Revenue increased 10.3% to $519.1 million. The Sunnyvale, Calif.-based firm attributed the increase to higher gross profit margins and strong demand for its 5890 and 5990 series of mainframe computers and for its data-storage products.
