Fluor Wins Contract: Fluor Daniel Inc., the engineering and construction arm of Irvine-based Fluor Corp., said Wednesday it has received a $12-million contract to build a nine-story parking structure for 1,000 cars in Richmond, Va. The project, awarded by the Richmond Metropolitan Authority, is scheduled for completion in late 1991.
In addition, Fluor Daniel said it has received a contract of undisclosed value to perform engineering, procurement and construction on a facility in Malaysia to produce fatty alcohols from local palm plants. Fatty alcohols are used by detergent manufacturers as a substitute for petroleum-based products.
The 2.6-acre plant will be built for Henkel Rika Sdn Bhd, a joint venture between Malaysia-based Henkel Oleochemicals Sdn Bhd, Japan-based New Japan Chemical Co. Ltd. and South Korea-based Lucky Ltd.
