Capital Cities-ABC Inc.: The New York-based communications company reported that second-quarter earnings rose 1.6% to $142.3 million on revenue that climbed 11% to $1.36 billion. A $20-million loss at its ESPN subsidiary--stemming from smaller-than-anticipated audiences for Major League Baseball telecasts--dampened results, the company said.
