A Newport Beach man was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident Sunday afternoon that forced police to close the northbound lanes of Newport Boulevard for nearly two hours, authorities said.
Motorcycle driver Ronald Lee Barker, 36, was being treated in the emergency room at UCI Medical Center late Sunday with head injuries sustained in the 6 p.m. crash at the corner of Newport Boulevard and 15th Street.
Barker was heading north on Newport Boulevard when he collided with a Toyota pickup turning left, Police Lt. Tom Warnack said.
No arrests or citations have been made, pending the outcome of an investigation, Warnack added.
Three lanes of Newport Boulevard, the main access to Newport Beach and to the Orange County Fair, were closed from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
