Two sisters were injured Sunday, one critically, when a pickup truck hit them on a busy street.
Josephina Martinez, 61, of Santa Ana remained in critical condition late Sunday at UCI Medical Center in Orange. The extent of her injuries was not known.
Her sister, Maria Fernandez, 44, was treated at Long Beach Memorial Hospital and released.
The driver of the pickup truck was not cited because the women were crossing Edinger Avenue 50 feet from the marked crosswalk at the intersection with Bristol Street, said Santa Ana Police Sgt. Kevin Brown.
He said the driver was turning left, traveling about 20 m.p.h., and did not have time to stop when he saw the women in the street.
