Irvine-based Fluor Daniel Inc. said today that it has won a $300-million contract for work on a 663-megawatt power plant that will be the largest independent power producer in the United States when completed in 1992.
Fluor Daniel, the chief unit of Fluor Corp., said it will provide engineering, procurement and construction services for the Doswell Combined Cycle Facility in Hanover County, Va.
The contract was awarded by Doswell Limited Partnership, a subsidiary of Los Angeles-based Diamond Energy Inc., whose parent company is Mitsubishi Corp. Diamond Energy has already developed non-utility power projects in California, Texas and New York.
Power from the plant will be sold to Virginia Power, Fluor Daniel said.
