Pressing Problem for Geffen Records: The compact disc pressing plant that handles all of Geffen Records’ products has refused to press the debut from rap group the Geto Boys, which has been scheduled for release on Aug. 14 by the Geffen-distributed Def American label, said Def American president Rick Rubin. Rubin said that the Digital Audio Disc Corp. in Terra Haute, Ind., has also said it would not handle any future Def American releases. No official comment was available from representatives of either Geffen or DADC, but a source at Geffen confirmed that the Sony-owned pressing facility was concerned about the violent and sexually explicit language of the Houston-based group. Rubin said that a new pressing facility will be contracted, but that the release date of the album will now be no earlier than Aug. 21.
