Two children and a 59-year-old man were being treated for head injuries in area hospitals Saturday after three separate bicycle accidents Friday.
Parris Boswell, 11, was hit by a van at 5:40 p.m. while darting across the westbound lanes of La Palma Avenue near Onondaga Avenue in Anaheim, police said. He was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange with head injuries and was listed in stable condition Saturday. Police said there were no charges filed against the driver.
In another incident, Gene Zenger, 59, apparently ran a stop sign at Briarwood and East Yale Loop in Irvine at 5:30 p.m., lost control of his bike on a turn and crashed head-first, police said. He was taken to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana, where he was listed in critical condition Saturday.
In the third accident which occurred two hours later, Andrew Bermudez, 12, was attempting to cross the street on Paseo Westpark in Irvine when he was struck by a motorist who allegedly ran a red light, police said. Police are still investigating the case and no charges have been filed against the driver, Dana Perry, 27, of Irvine. The youth remained in critical condition Saturday at Long Beach Memorial Hospital.
Police said none of the injured bicyclists was wearing a helmet.
