Brig. Gen. Alejandro Galido; Linked to Filipino Coup Bid

Philippine Brig. Gen. Alejandro Galido, 54, who implicated Imelda Marcos in a failed December coup. Galido gave up his post as chief of the military’s southern Luzon command in December after he was linked to the bloody nine-day coup attempt that nearly toppled President Corazon Aquino. In a statement given in February, Galido said he telephoned Mrs. Marcos in Hawaii last year to ask for money for a coup attempt, but she refused. On Sunday of liver cancer in Manila.
