THE SIDELINES : Trottier Signed by Penguins

PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Penguins today signed center Bryan Trottier, the New York Islanders’ all-time leading scorer.
Trottier, 33, is a 15-year veteran of the NHL. He was named the NHL’s top rookie when he began his career with the Islanders in 1975.
Trottier scored 500 goals and 853 assists with the Islanders for a total of 1,353 points in 1,123 games.
Terms of his contract were not disclosed.
