Baltimore Sun President Larry Strutton has been named president, publisher and chief executive of the Rocky Mountain News, where he began his career 26 years ago as a Linotype machinist. Strutton, 49, succeeds William Fletcher as president. Fletcher, 61, has been elected chairman of the Denver newspaper. Strutton was named president of the Baltimore Sun in April, 1989. He had been executive vice president of the Los Angeles Times since 1986. Times Mirror Co. owns the Baltimore Sun and The Times. The News is owned by Scripps Howard.
