Four gunmen robbed patrons leaving a Westminster restaurant early Sunday, taking an undetermined amount of cash, purses and jewelry before fleeing in a stolen car, authorities said.
A short time after the 2:30 a.m. robbery, police in Santa Ana, unaware of the robbery, stopped the car, but the robbers managed to run away, Westminster Police Lt. Don Kerr said.
Guns and at least part of the loot were recovered in the car, Kerr said. A caller from Westminster reported the vehicle stolen early Sunday morning, he said.
The four unidentified victims were not injured in the holdup, which took place in the parking lot of the Ngon Restaurant in the 10500 block of Bolsa Avenue, Kerr said.
A restaurant spokesman said the four people had been occasional patrons for “a couple of months.”
He said the restaurant was about to close for the night when the customers were confronted in the parking lot.
A detailed description of the robbers was not available Sunday. Kerr said an investigation was continuing.
