DETROIT — Baseball and pizza mogul Thomas Monaghan has sold his Frank Lloyd Wright-designed house to a 26-year-old businessman.
Buyer Ivan Doverspike, who owns Ecorse Machinery Sales and Rebuilders Inc., said he has admired Wright for many years and once hoped to become an architect. He said he’ll spend about $100,000 to restore the five-bedroom home as a tribute to Wright.
The purchase price wasn’t disclosed. Monaghan, who owns Domino’s Pizza Inc. and the Detroit Tigers, had been trying to sell the 4,000-square-foot house for more than a year. He had dropped the price several times to about $215,000.
