THE SIDELINES : Ex-Bruin Coach Jim Bush Hired to Head Track Programs at USC

Former UCLA track Coach Jim Bush has been hired as head track coach of the men’s and women’s programs at USC, the school announced today.
The university called an afternoon press conference at Heritage Hall to introduce Bush as the first person to head both the men’s and women’s programs at the school.
Bush, 63, was head coach of the UCLA men’s team for 20 years before retiring in 1984. The Bruins won five NCAA championships under Bush, who has served as a volunteer assistant at USC Cal for the past two years, handling the hurdlers.
Ernie Bullard was the USC men’s track coach for the past six years, and Mike Bailey coached the women for the past two years.
