4 Acres on Peninsula Burn

A fire in a Rancho Palos Verdes canyon scorched about four acres of hillside brush Saturday before Los Angeles County firefighters extinguished it. No injuries were reported and no property was damaged.
Fire Capt. Dale Lincoln said the fire, which was reported at 8:33 a.m., briefly threatened houses in a neighborhood of million-dollar homes.
Lincoln said seashore humidity aided firefighters, who were working in high winds that otherwise would have been dangerous. Eleven engines, four patrols, two helicopters and eight camp crews fought the fire, which was contained after about an hour.
Lincoln said fire officials suspect that a downed electrical wire started the blaze.
