Valley Players Earn Partial Scholarships

Pitcher Dan Carroll of Valley College and Crespi High has signed a letter of intent to play baseball for the University of Santa Clara on a partial athletic scholarship, Valley Coach Chris Johnson said.
Infielder Mark Cavarretta, also of Valley and Crespi, has accepted a partial scholarship to Gonzaga University, Johnson said.
Johnson also said outfielder Vladimir Pajcin and infielder Kevin Thomas have given oral commitments to Cal State Sacramento and infielder John Stephens to Cal State Long Beach, all as invited walk-ons.
Two Ventura College baseball players--catcher Joel Gaxiola and pitcher Bryan Leiser--have given oral commitments to play for Cal Lutheran, according to Ventura Coach Gary Anglin.
Shortstop Gabe Diaz said he will attend Brigham Young on a partial athletic scholarship.
