NAMES IN THE NEWS : Argentine Novelist Bullrich Dies

GENEVA — Argentine novelist Silvina Bullrich died of a pulmonary disease in Geneva on Monday night, relatives said.
She was 75 and had been undergoing treatment in a Geneva clinic for several weeks.
Born in Buenos Aires into an upper-middle-class family, Bullrich, a French language graduate, translated French writers such as Francois Mauriac and Simone de Beauvoir before starting her literary career in 1939.
She wrote more than 35 novels. Her best-known novels include “Bodas de Cristal” and “Pasajeros del Jardin,” which were turned into films in Argentina.
