$22 Million in Dope Cash Seized : Record $22 Million in Illegal Drug Profits Seized by Agents

MIAMI — Federal agents seized a record $22 million in illegal drug profits, a money mountain weighing 1 1/2 tons, during a 13-month money-laundering investigation that targeted cash couriers, the U.S. Customs commissioner said today.
The seizure is the largest in the Customs Service’s history, said U.S. Commissioner Carol Hallett.
The investigation, called Operation Greenbacks, targeted cocaine-trafficking organizations in New York and Miami.
