Kari Escobeda of Buena Park High School has signed a letter of intent to play softball at Cal State Fullerton, Titan Coach Judi Garman announced Thursday.
Escobeda, a catcher, led Buena Park last season in batting (.382), base hits (17), triples (four) and home runs (five). She led the Coyotes to an 18-3-1 record and the quarterfinals of the Southern Section playoffs.
She is also the first Titan athlete and one of only 10 students in the state to be selected as a Presidential Opportunity Scholar, which is based on high school grade-point average and extracurricular activities.
The Titans also signed Jstone Vines of San Pedro High School. The outfielder had a .453 batting average, scored 31 runs and stole 20 bases last season.
