CALIFORNIA IN BRIEF : ORANGE : Release of Boy for Funeral Refused

A Juvenile Court judge denied permission for 14-year-old Richard Hubler to attend the funeral of the 12-year-old sister he is accused of murdering. Richard allegedly shot his sister, Gema Marie Hubler, in their Anaheim Shores home last Thursday. The girl died Monday. Judge C. Robert Jameson denied, without elaboration, a request by Richard’s attorney to allow him to leave Juvenile Hall to attend today’s funeral. A prosecutor argued that Richard has a record of violence, was on probation at the time of the shooting, and should be kept in custody until trial.
