A 21-year-old Oxnard man was arrested Thursday and held on suspicion of attempted murder and rape in connection with an assault on a 54-year-old woman last week, police said.
George Arlis Valenzuela was arrested in the 500 block of East Date Street, said Oxnard Police Lt. Gordon Hubbard. He is being held at Ventura County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bail.
On June 15, the Oxnard woman was returning to her room in the Ambassador Hotel on Oxnard Boulevard when a man who had been following her pulled her inside an open door, police said.
The man raped the woman and stabbed her several times in her upper torso before fleeing, police said.
