A daredevil’s parachute failed to open and he plummeted 54 floors to his death from the top of a downtown skyscraper under construction in Philadelphia. Police said Robert Morris Jr., 26, of Mt. Joy, Pa., was one of two men who evaded security guards and jumped from the Mellon Bank building shortly before 6 a.m. The surviving parachutist fled immediately after landing safely in a nearby parking lot but later called police to identify the dead man. Initial reports of a third man videotaping the jump from the ground were denied by the surviving parachutist, police said.
