Sheriff’s deputies found a fatally wounded man early Thursday in a car parked outside a Vista restaurant.
Alexander G. Bazan Jr., 28, of the 400 block of Sunrise Drive East in Vista was slumped in his car outside Kettle Restaurant, at Sycamore Avenue and California 78. He apparently had been shot, officials said. He was taken by Life Flight to Palomar Hospital, where he died.
Restaurant manager Bill Maneval said customers reportedly saw a man in the parking lot shoot Bazan and flee. Bazan and the other man had been in the restaurant earlier but were not together, Maneval said.
“I don’t know anything more about it,” he said. “I don’t know who these guys were or what started it.”
A Sheriff’s Department spokesman said there have been no arrests.
