The co-chairmen of a commission on intercollegiate athletics said the panel probably will seek more liberal allowances for recruits, the abolition of athletic dormitories and an end to off-season tournaments for high school basketball players.
The Rev. Theodore Hesburgh, president emeritus of Notre Dame, and Bill Friday, president emeritus of the University of North Carolina system, also were critical of the increasing number of college undergraduates turning professional.
