Taylor is due home today after Justice Department interviews in Washington, a prelude to his probable nomination for U.S. District judge in Santa Ana. . . . Such interviews usually mean the President is about to make a selection. . . . If so, he could be chosen for the lifetime appointment before Gov. Deukmejian picks someone--perhaps Taylor--as a state appeals court judge for Santa Ana.
