MacLaine Injures Knee, Delaying Comeback Tour

Shirley MacLaine suffered a knee injury during rehearsal of her song and dance revue and will have to undergo surgery, postponing her national comeback tour, including performances scheduled for this week in Los Angeles.
“In rehearsal (Sunday) I tore a cartilage. Actually it was a reinjury from Seattle six weeks ago, “ said MacLaine, 56, standing on crutches at a news conference at the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood.
The actress, who has already performed her “Out There Tonight” song and dance revue in Seattle, San Francisco and Denver, was visibly upset over the injury, which postpones her return to the stage after a six-year absence.
“Out There Tonight,” scheduled to open at the Pantages Tuesday night, was first indefinitely postponed and then tentatively rescheduled for Aug. 28, said Dale Olson, a publicist for MacLaine. She is expected to perform locally for five weeks.
