Winning Idea

Recently, some California Lottery players have devised the strategy of purchasing tickets as a group in the hope that this method will give them a better chance of winning. This strategy, unhappily, does not guarantee winning the grand prize.
I think the problem is that the groups are not large enough. I suggest that we form a group of all Californians aged 18 and over--about 20,000,000 of us--and each buy $2 worth of tickets.
This way we would be almost sure to win. If we win, since the grand prize is nearly one-half total ticket sales, each member of our group would receive, before taxes, a nickel a year for the next 20 years.
