Carter Meeting With Arafat

In your article “Arafat Backing Peres as Israeli Leader” (Part A, April 6) you report that Yasser Arafat asked Arab members of the Israeli Parliament to back Shimon Peres in his attempt to form a new government. It struck me as extremely ironic that unlike Arafat or any other Arab leader, the only Arabs holding office as a result of free and democratic elections are in Israel.
