FILLMORE : Fire Department Given High Rating
- Share via
Fire insurance rates for some commercial properties in Fillmore may decrease as a result of a recent evaluation of the city’s fire protection services.
Randy Surber, assistant manager for IS0 Commercial Risk Services’ survey department, which assesses the effectiveness of fire departments, said Fillmore’s Volunteer Fire Department has improved since its ability to protect Fillmore was last surveyed.
“They received a good rating, whether compared to full-time or other volunteer departments,” Surber said.
Residential fire insurance rates will not be affected, Surber said. Some commercial buildings will see a reduction in rates of up to 12%, while others will show less change because of the construction of the building or the risk involved in the business itself.
Surber said that although most insurance companies use ISO’s rating service, companies that use different standards may not alter their rates.
