An armed robber tied up two restaurant employees Wednesday and fired a shot into the ceiling before stealing an undisclosed amount of money, authorities said.
A man entered Mimi’s Cafe at 18461 Brookhurst St., apparently through an unlocked back door, about 1:30 a.m., Police Officer Mike O’Connor said.
“The suspect placed his gun in the back of an employee and moved him to (the restaurant’s) office,” O’Connor said. The gunman then bound the hands and feet of the employee and another worker in the office, he said.
Before fleeing with the day’s receipts, the robber fired a single shot into the ceiling, O’Connor said.
The robber is described as a 6-foot-1 man about 30 to 35 years old. Witnesses saw him leave in a red Chevrolet Camaro or a Pontiac Trans Am.
