Artists Rights Foundation Launched: The Artistic Rights Foundation, a nonprofit organization advocating freedom of expression for artists, has been launched with a $100,000 contribution from arts patron J. Paul Getty Jr. Film director Elliot Silverstein said the foundation would “fight to raise public awareness about the need to defend our cultural heritage. Initial attention of the foundation will be focused on the defense of film artists’ moral rights and protection against the mutilation of their work.”
