CALIFORNIA IN BRIEF : FULLERTON : Man Acquitted in Alleged Murder Plot

An Orange County Superior Court jury acquitted a man of fatally shooting an Anaheim man and wounding his wife during what prosecutors called a murder-for-hire plot involving the couple’s son. After two days of deliberations, the four-man, eight-woman jury told Superior Court Judge Manuel A. Ramirez that they found Richard L. Rodriguez, 22, of Anaheim, not guilty of conspiracy to commit murder, robbery, attempted murder and burglary. Rodriguez, however, was found guilty of three lesser charges--two counts of brandishing a handgun and one count of receiving stolen property.
