Kobe Steel Increases Stake in Komag Inc.

Kobe Steel U.S.A. Holdings, a unit of the Japanese steel manufacturer, has raised its stake in Komag Inc., the Milpitas, Calif., maker of disks for computer drives, from 4.23% to 11.21%, or 1.6 million common shares.
Kobe Steel bought 1 million Komag common shares under a Feb. 6 agreement for $20 million in cash, or $20 a share, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing.
