Survey on Competition: More than three-quarters of chief executive officers of U.S. companies contacted in a survey said their greatest competitive threat comes from other domestic companies, not foreign businesses. About 70% of the more than 1,100 CEOs polled on behalf of Continental Bank of Chicago also said their companies’ competitiveness is most strongly influenced by factors within their control. And 51% said U.S. business is at least as competitive with foreign business as it was 10 years ago.
