‘Jake’s Women’ Closing on the Road: Neil Simon’s newest play, “Jake’s Women,” will not open on Broadway April 30 as expected. The production won’t continue beyond its six-week run at San Diego’s Old Globe Theatre, where it closes April 15, “at least not this year,” said Simon. Despite 55-60 pages of rewrites, the play “is not strong enough yet for Broadway,” he added, noting that this will be the first of his 24 plays to close outside New York.
