Pereira Hired to Design Trump’s Wilshire Tower

The Los Angeles architectural firm of Johnson Fain and Pereira has been hired to design what may be the world’s tallest building at the site of the old Ambassador Hotel in the Mid-Wilshire area.
The site is owned by a partnership headed by New York developer Donald Trump, who has refused to disclose specific plans for the new building but has said it may be far taller than 125 stories.
“It was very clear to us that only a Los Angeles architect would have the sensitivity to the community and the understanding of the project as a vital link in the city’s urban plan,” said a Trump news release.
The project has met resistance from Mayor Tom Bradley, who said such a skyscraper would be inappropriate for the area.
