Opening day for La Habra Marketplace will be Dec. 1, the center’s development company announced this week.
The mall’s major tenant will be Service Merchandise, a catalogue department store that will occupy nearly one-fourth of the center, said Jeffrey B. Armour, senior development manager and partner with the Hopkins Development Co.
About 40% of the shopping center is leased, Armour said. Ross Dress for Less has leased 26,000 square feet, and one or two more major tenants are being sought, he said.
The center is being built on the western end of what was previously known as the Fashion Square Mall. Demolition of old buildings on the site has already begun. However, the Buffums building will remain for two months until asbestos in the building can be removed, Armour said.
