WORLD IN BRIEF : YUGOSLAVIA : More Troops Sent to Troubled Kosovo

The Yugoslav government sent more troops and tanks into Kosovo province in an effort to control violent clashes between authorities and ethnic Albanians demanding greater autonomy. One Albanian was killed and 10 others were wounded in clashes with riot police in the town of Titova Mitrovica. Albanian students in Pristina announced that they will continue to boycott university classes to demand the resignation of the province’s pro-Serbian leaders.
