A man suspected of shooting a police officer in Logan Heights was identified Tuesday by police as Jesus Francisco Chaides.
Chaides, 25, was involved in a shoot-out with Officer Dennis Davis on Monday morning at 31st Street and National Avenue that left both men injured. Chaides was held on suspicion of attempted murder and violation of parole, a police spokesman said.
Davis was treated and released at Mercy Hospital for a wound to his upper right thigh.
Chaides, whose hometown was unknown, was reported to be in serious condition Tuesday at UCSD Medical Center after spending seven hours in surgery Monday for spinal cord damage, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Chaides’ might be arraigned at the hospital if his condition does not improve by today, the spokesman said.
