VISITING KINGS: Martin Luther King Jr., who would have been 61 today (A1, A4), never came to Orange County, but family members did. . . . A year after King’s assassination, his father spoke in Santa Ana and warned “this city, right here, is sitting on a powder keg.” . . . In 1979, King’s widow spoke at UC Irvine, deploring “all forms of violence, including the death penalty and the distribution of handguns.” And King’s son, above, said in 1986 at UCI that “we’re not going to let (King’s birthday) be just another holiday.”
